Energise your Life

Have you been inactive, eating poorly and feeling negative about yourself lately? Everyone gets tired and run down sometimes but do you know how to re-energise your mind the natural way? There are lots of everyday stressors that rob us of energy and there are lots of natural ways to get that energy back. Anxiety, nervousness, irritability and insomnia are common energy thieves. Here are some natural ways to help calm your mind and energise your body.

Herbal Teas

There’s nothing like a good hot cup of tea when you are feeling overwhelmed or out of sort by something. The comfort of a warm drink together with the soothing nature of herbal teas has been well known for centuries and used by many ancient cultures. Herbs like chamomile, valerian root, peppermint and ginseng are often used in making herbal teas to help relax and alleviate stress and anxieties. Next time you are feeling anxious or stressed try a soothing cup of chamomile tea. When you feel lethargic and too tired to do much, make a cup of peppermint or ginseng tea, and you’ll start to feel revitalized.

Drinking herbal teas not only helps with the mood and energy of your body, but they can also help you to lose weight. Green tea is effective in increasing your metabolism so that the body can burn fat. Also, green tea is full of antioxidants. These help to destroy free radicals created when we eat certain types of foods and/or get too much exposure to the sun and chemical toxins. These are just a few of the benefits of drinking herbal teas.

Inactivity

Non-stop or no go which are you? Maybe you are somewhere in between. There are more desk jobs and computerized gadgets than ever before. We seem to be either sitting in one spot or racing to our next stop. But how active are our bodies in the process? My hunch is most of us are not getting enough physical activity. Sitting at a desk all day can be really tiring. I know it sounds absurd, but it can be difficult to get your body moving after sitting all day. It seems the less we do the less we want to do sometimes. If you can relate to this, then it is time for you to start moving and take the first steps away from being inactive toward becoming more active. When you start being active it works much the same way, by this I mean, the more we do the more we want to do. I know this may sound contradictory, but it really does works like that.

Take The Walking Challenge

If you have been sitting too much then why not start by walking. Everyone deserves to take a break and it can be good for your productivity at work if you do. Midway through the morning instead of going to the coffee or vending machine why not go for a walk and pick up a coffee on the way back to your desk. At lunch do the same thing, take a longer walk and eat your lunch at the end of your lunch break. Park your car as far away as you can from the entry so you have to walk to and from the building at work. It’s interesting how contagious something like this can be. It can be fun and you could start a walking group among your colleagues and help them to become fitter too. We all like to socialize a little with our work friends so why not invite them to go walking.

The Body Brain Connection

The body brain connection is a wonderful duo. As we exercise our body our brain releases endorphins, which cause us to have that feel good response. This body brain connection is why as we begin to exercise we get more energy and want to exercise more. The more we do the more we want to do. If you’ve been inactive and suffer from low energy, start being more active. As you become more active you’ll start feeling more energetic and looking better too.

Eat Fresh

Eating fresh fruit and vegetables are the best way to get the vitamins and nutrients that the body requires to combat illness and diseases. The more colorful and fresher the food the more food value you get from them. Just ask any health specialist and they’ll agree most people don’t eat enough servings of these foods. Make sure you have at least 4 servings each of fruits and vegetables daily. This is a case of more is better. The antioxidants in these foods help your body to kill off ‘free radicals’ that can cause cellular destruction in the body. So fill up on these disease fighting foods and you’ll have more energy too.

So, if you want to re-energize your life, start concentrating on changing some of what you have been doing or not doing. Start by walking more. When you feel stressed have a cup of herbal tea and feel calmer. Lower the amount of chemicals you are exposed to by using natural products and eating fresh organic foods. By increasing your intake of health food and vitamins, and by exercising you’ll put more energy back into you life the natural way.
